5 Simple Ways to Reduce Waste:

1. Hydrate like a Hero

Did you know that roughly 2,480,000 tons of plastic bottles and other plastic containers are thrown away every year? Plastic water bottles make up a significant portion of this waste. They are one of the main sources of pollution and pose a serious threat to our environment. You can save the environment AND save water by simply carrying your own water bottle.

Tip: Invest in a water bottle that is easy to carry and is something you enjoy using and even looking at!

2. Shop in Style

Plastic bags are made using oil which is a resource that is very limited. Additionally, plastic bags can take hundreds of years to decompose, resulting in the potential to poison and kill countless of our wildlife. You can reduce this waste by bringing your own reusable bags to do your shopping.

Tip: If you forget to pack your reusable bags ask for paper bags at the store instead. You can even sometimes buy more reusable bags because who doesn't love an excuse to add to their collection anyway?

3. Meals in Mason Jars

Just finished your favorite jar of nut butter? Wait Wait Wait! Don't throw it away. Meal prep your smoothies and stick them in those jars for a delicious meal on the go. Instead of using Ziploc sandwich bags, replace it with fun reusable containers. This can reduce your spending and is eco-frinedly!

Tip: Research and save fun mason jar recipes to make this a fun and easy switch for you!

4. Swap your Soaps

A lot of times when we head down the soap isle at the store, we will be drawn in by all of the big named brands that provide pumps and fancy packaging. Did you ever think about how much plastic goes into making each of these bottles? Instead of choosing the large named brands, try buying bare bar soaps to reduce your carbon footprint.

Tip: Check out small or local businesses that make their own soaps. This can benefit your skin as well by using wholesome, natural products.

5. Support Small & Sustainable

Supporting and discovering up and coming small businesses is not only fun, but there are also environmental benefits. Buying from a small business makes money circulate in your neighborhood, city and nearby region. This will allow for more local development. Small businesses are also leading the way in providing sustainable and ethically made products.

Tip: Check out social media for small brands. There are endless opportunities to find what you are looking for while supporting small.
